The Garage men’s grooming suite recently celebrated two years in business at Hoke Landing Shopping Center in Hoke County.

From Fort Benning to Fort Bragg, Maria Endrikat and her husband Patrick were stationed at Benning when her husband ended his time in service there and got a job on Bragg. Endrikat said, “we were looking for houses between Raeford and Cameron and Raeford just looked more homie to us.”

Where did the vision come from, “I have always teetered back and forth about if I wanted to open a shop or not and my husband just pushed me to go for it,” Endrikat said. The Garage name was his idea and they asked themselves, where do men like to go when their happy and doing what they want, and we just wanted to make it a sanctuary, somewhere they wanted to be.”

This past March 14, The Garage celebrated two years in business, and they were recently featured in Voyage Raleigh magazine, a publication that started in Los Angeles California as Voyage LA, and now has an east coast publication in Raleigh.

The Garage is an unconventional men’s grooming salon that is themed like a mechanics garage at home or work. As soon as you come in you notice the garage theme with big red tool boxes, old car license plates on the wall, open spacious area, couches, military flags, racing stickers and beer. Yes, we said beer! The Garage offers complimentary beer for those 21 and up, as well as soda and water for those who are not, while you’re waiting to get your hair cut or groomed. “We’ve never had any problems, and everyone is always very respectful of it, and they all seem to like just coming in, getting their hair cut, having a drink and relaxing after a day of work or on the weekends,” Endrikat said.

Maria did mention they do some women’s dry trim if they need it, but we don’t blow dry or style and we’re very basic on what we do. The area seems to be a really great area and the owner of the building allowed us to design to our specifications and that really helped.

The Garage is located at the Hoke Landing Shopping Center beside East Hoke Middle School and across from the Raeford Walmart on Hwy 401. They are open Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturdays 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sundays 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. The shop is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
